What We Believe
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are difficult or traumatic experiences during childhood that can have lasting effects on a young person’s emotional well-being, relationships, behavior, and ability to navigate challenges. In New Mexico, understanding the impact of ACEs is important when supporting youth who may be carrying experiences that are not always visible. At Caminos de la Vida, we take an ACEs-informed approach by bringing mentorship and restorative circles together. Through trusted relationships and safe spaces for open conversation, youth are encouraged to be heard, build trust, take responsibility, work through challenges, and strengthen their connections with others. Our goal is not to define young people by what they have experienced, but to help them recognize their strengths, build resilience, and move forward with confidence.

OUR approach
What Make Us Different
Mission: Walking alongside youth with compassion, mentorship, and guidance to create a path forward.
Mentorship
We pair young adults aged 16–24 with dedicated mentors to navigate life and career paths. By matching personal guidance with systemic advocacy, we break down barriers and ensure every young person has a trusted ally to help them achieve their full potential.
Life Skills & Financial Literacy
We teach young adults critical life skills and financial literacy to secure their independence. We give youth the practical tools and systemic backing they need to successfully navigate adulthood.
Community Connections
We connect young adults aged 16–24 with local leaders, mentors, and networks to build strong support systems. By combining grassroots community building with policy advocacy, we ensure our youth have the powerful relationships and resources they need.
Career & Job Readiness
We empower young adults to break down systemic employment barriers and secure meaningful futures. Through targeted career training, job readiness mentorship, and policy advocacy, we open doors to equal economic opportunities so every young person can thrive.
Youth Activities, Outings & Team Building
We unite youth through active group outings and team building to spark lasting change. By teaching them to advocate for their communities, we turn fun shared experiences into real-world impact.
Advocacy Support
Through strategic advocacy, we amplify community voices, reshape public policy, and tear down systemic barriers.
“Healing begins the moment someone sees your potential instead of your past. ”
